Weitjerock is a weekend festival in IJzendijke, Zeeland. On Friday, you can enjoy dance and electronic music in the Tivoli tent, while on Saturday you can listen to various bands. There is also an outdoor stage and side activities, including a variety of food trucks.
The request from Weitjerock was to better integrate the Tivoli tent with the electronic music and make it visually aligned with the associated nightlife. The design also had to be suitable for Saturday, when the bands play in a lighter tent during the day. It was important to carry the idyllic atmosphere of the festival site into the tent and beyond.
To achieve this, I created several designs and visual expressions for Weitjerock:
- Illustrations for the stage banners
- 3D wooden sculptures controllable with light and smoke
- Redesigning the DJ stage to make it suitable for video mapping
- Custom visual animations for the mapped stage, in line with the branding and audiovisual show
- Live VJ performances during the event
- Tie-dye flowers for the tent and the festival grounds
- Music-driven LED strips on the poles at the Tivoli tent entrance and on the stage.
To bring all these ideas to life, I worked with the art collective Paniek and Stichting De Overkant Productie.
